Greensboro, N.C. — Catawba College senior
Sam Hunter was named a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings Division II Gold Glove team in the outfield, the organizations announced Wednesday evening.
Hunter adds Catawba Baseball's third nod to the national Gold Glove team in the last four seasons, following
Dylan Driver's back-to-back Gold Glove-winning campaigns in 2023 and '24.
The St. Petersburg, Fla. native moved to right field for his senior season and excelled in that position, sporting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 130 putouts and six outfield assists on the year. He helped lead a Catawba defense that led the nation in fielding percentage for a second straight year.
Hunter's glove was complimented by a solid bat this season, hitting .349 with 17 doubles, five triples and five home runs with 43 RBI, 26 stolen bases and 67 runs scored.
Hunter earned First Team All-SAC accolades for the first time in his career as a senior. In his three-year career with the Catawba Indians, Hunter picked up All-South Atlantic Conference recognition each year, while winning three SAC regular season championships, a SAC Tournament title and two NCAA DII Southeast region titles.
