Cary, N.C. —- Catawba College redshirt sophomore Hunter Atkins was named to the Division II Baseball National Championships All-Tournament team.
The Randleman, N.C. native went 10-for-17 with a double, a homer, eight RBI and six runs scored in four games in Cary, which led Catawba to its second national semifinal in three years.
Atkins' highlight game was when he went 5-for-5 with a homer and five RBI in Catawba's 10-9 win over Point Loma on June 2. He capped off the win with the walk-off RBI single up the middle in the Catawba Indians' dramatic win to stay alive.
Atkins joins Sam Hunter and Levi Perrell (2024), Craig Brooks and Dylan Richardson (2015) and Julio Zubillaga (2012) as Catawba's National Championships All-Tournament team selections in their five trips.
