Turner & LoPiccolo represent #12 Men's Lacrosse as SAC Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. — For the second consecutive week, the 12th-ranked Catawba College men's lacrosse team received two South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Players of the Week as Peyton Turner (Offensive) and Ben LoPiccolo (Specialist) snagged their first and second honors of the year, respectively, on Monday.

In a 2-0 week for the Catawba Indians, Turner flexed both his scoring and playmaking abilities with seven goals and eight assists to amass 15 points. His outputs were consistent with three goals and four assists at Coker on Wednesday, followed by a four-score, four-dime effort against Tusculum on Saturday. The Cornelius, N.C., native is the first SAC player this season to record back-to-back games with four helpers while ranking fourth in the league with 22 total assists.

Between the posts, LoPiccolo iced out a pair of offenses that were averaging over 13 goals per game, holding Coker and Tusculum to single digits in the scoring column. The Mason, Ohio, product recorded a 9.37 goals-against average with a .575 save percentage, totaling 23 stops across the two victories to improve to 9-2 on the year. His 14 saves in Wednesday's win at Coker tallied the second-highest value of his sophomore campaign. Among SAC goalies, LoPiccolo slots third in save percentage (.507) and fourth in GAA (11.03).

As a program, Catawba has earned six weekly awards from four different players and is the only team in the SAC to win each category (Offensive, Defensive, Specialist) multiple times this season.

The Catawba Indians look to continue rolling at Emory & Henry on Saturday, Apr. 11.
