Salisbury, N.C. — The Catawba College softball team bounced back from its two losses on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of UNC Pembroke at Whitley Field.
GAME ONE | Catawba 8, UNC Pembroke 0 - 5 innings
TEAM STATISTICS

- The Catawba Indians had the lone homer and both extra-base hits

- Alex Baquie tossed the complete-game shutout in five innings, allowing just two hits
- Brianna Gallagher was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, three RBI and a run scored
- Adda Prescott homered and drove in three
- Alexis Monroe added a pair of hits
- Lainey Ruscoe singled, drove in a run and scored
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST INNING
- Monroe and Abbey Nixon singled to lead off the first
- Gallagher drove them both home with a two-run double
- Rachel Pressley's RBI single drove home Gallagher to push the lead to 3-0
- Ruscoe drove a fourth run on a sac fly
THIRD INNING
- Ruscoe singled and stole second to lead off the third
- Prescott went the opposite way for a three-run homer to break open the lead to 7-0
- An error helped extend the inning and Gallagher capitalized with a two-out, RBI single

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST INNING
- Flynn's single loaded the bases for Catawba in the first
- Ruscoe's one-out sac fly drove in Catawba's first run
SECOND INNING
- Prescott singled to lead off the second
- Bella Boykin's double moved two runners in scoring position
- Monroe picked up an RBI on another sac fly to double Catawba's lead
THIRD INNING
- A double, a triple and a sac fly wiped out Catawba's lead in the top of the third
- Flynn answered with a one-out solo homer in the bottom half, leading 3-2
FOURTH INNING
- Prescott and Jordan McCorkle singled to lead off the fourth
- A bunt moved them into scoring position, allowing Monroe to score them on a two-run single up the middle
- Nixon stole second and Flynn drove her in with a two-out base knock to put Catawba in front, 6-2
SIXTH INNING
- Back-to-back RBI base hits from the Braves cut Catawba's lead in half, 6-4, in the sixth
