Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College softball team fell in both ends of a doubleheader to 19th-ranked Shippensburg in the start of a four-game Whitley Field this weekend.
GAME ONE | Shippensburg 7, Catawba 3

FIRST INNING
- Shippensburg took the first pitch of its season over the center field wall for a home run
SECOND INNING
- Three straight one-out singles in the second scored another run for the Raiders
FIFTH INNING
- Gianna Cimino added a solo homer in the fifth to add to Shippensburg's lead
SIXTH INNING
- A two-out RBI double started a two-out rally for the Raiders in the sixth
- It was followed by a two-out error that scored another run, SU led 5-0
- A two-RBI single up the middle made it 7-0 Shippensburg
- Alexis Monroe added a one-out single in the bottom half
- She scored on Maddy Altiers' RBI single up the middle
SEVENTH INNING
- Boykin sent her first career home run to opposite field to trim the deficit to 7-2
- Gallagher's RBI single got Catawba within four

- Brie Wilmot's three-run homer gave the Raiders an early lead
- Grace Flynn singled and stole second to lead off the bottom half
- She advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Gallagher's sac fly
THIRD INNING
- Shippensburg's Sarah Sabocsik hit a one-out solo homer in the third
- Freshman Leah Schwalm followed later with an RBI double
- Abbey Nixon's bunt single and Monroe's single the other way set up Gallagher's three-run homer with two outs to pull within a run of the lead
FOURTH INNING
- Dakotah Wilkins singled and stole second to lead off the fourth
- She moved to third on Rachel Pressley's single and scored on Boykin's RBI sac fly to tie the game at 5
FIFTH INNING
- Shippensburg scored on an RBI triple to center field with two outs in the fifth to regain the lead

- The Raiders recorded a solo and a two-run homer in the seventh to add to their lead
