Winston-Salem, N.C. — In addition to the Catawba College Men's Track & Field DMR team placing as the conference runner-up on Day One of the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships, many of its runners set qualifying marks that set up for an exciting Finals Day on Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
One-Mile Run Preliminaries
- Seth Caudill and Will Lyons punched their ticket to the mile finals on Sunday with second- and fourth-place finishes, respectively, in Saturday's prelims
400-Meter Dash Preliminaries
- Jeremiah Hines set the second fastest mark in 400m dash prelims on Saturday, earning his spot in the 400m dash finals on Sunday
60-Meter Dash Preliminaries
- Victor Smith and Miles Stephens cleared the rest of the field by 0.15 seconds in the 60m dash prelims to set what should be a showdown between the two for the title on Sunday
- Smith's 6.63-second time was the third-fastest time in the nation
200-Meter Dash Preliminaries
- Smith, Stephens and Hines all qualified for the 200m finals with top-seven marks in the preliminaries
Distance Medley Relay
- Catawba's DMR team of Caleb Aikenhead, Anthony Holden, Don Leimkuhler and Seth Roy placed second with a mark of 10:14.78
Long Jump
- Jayden Bennermon placed seventh in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.86 meters
- Chris Brown added a top-10 placing of 6.75 meters
