Winston-Salem, N.C. — Catawba College graduate student Victor Smith set the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships meet record in the 60-meter dash on Sunday as the Catawba men's track and field team matched its highest finish in team history with a fourth-place finish.
HOW IT HAPPENED
High Jump
- Jayden Bennermon earned the first podium finish of the day with a third-place effort in the men's high jump, reaching 1.99 meters
- Namaurion Koontz and Marcus Hurley placed sixth and seventh, respectively
One-Mile Run
- Seth Caudill picked up a podium finish in the Men's Mile, crossing in 4:14.40
- Will Lyons added a sixth-place finish at 4:15.14
400-Meter Dash
- Jeremiah Hines tallied a podium finish in the men's 400m dash with a run of 48.24 seconds
60-Meter Dash
- Victor Smith set a new meet record with a title-clinching run in the men's 60-meter dash, racing to a blazing 6.63 seconds
- Miles Stephens, the previous meet record holder from his SAC title last year, placed third with a mark of 6.77 seconds
Triple Jump
- Jayden Bennermon and Chris Brown had two top-six finishes in the men's triple jump with fourth- and sixth-place efforts, respectively
200-Meter Dash
- Smith and Stephens both earned another top-five finish, this time in the men's 200m dash; Smith placed third, Stephens was fourth and Hines was eighth
4x400-Meter Relay
- Catawba's 4x400 relay team of Stephens, Hines, Smith and Jaden Chambers finished as the SAC runner-up with a mark of 3:13.76
