ROCK HILL, S.C. — After helping the Catawba Indians to a third straight win to open the year, Owen Conway of the Catawba College men's lacrosse program was donned the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Conway played a vital role in the Catawba Indians' 12-9 victory at Barton on Saturday in which he caused two turnovers, collected four ground balls and netted his second career goal. The sophomore defenseman ranks third in the SAC for caused turnovers per game (2.67) and first among non-faceoff specialists in ground ball pickups per game (4.67).

The honor is Catawba's first weekly award from the SAC this season and its first since Feb. 17, 2025. This is Conway's second time being named a SAC Player of the Week in his career and his second weekly accolade in 2026 following his appointment to the USILA Team of the Week last Tuesday.

Conway and the team head to the Sunshine State this weekend to face No. 10 Saint Leo on Saturday, Feb. 28, at noon.
