SALISBURY, N.C. — Anders Christianson set the Catawba College men's volleyball team's record for hitting percentage, batting .909 in a 3-0 sweep of Benedict on Thursday night at Goodman Arena. The win is Catawba's first at home this season.
TEAM STATS
- The Catawba Indians' (3-4) attacking corps recorded a punishing .361 success rate, the program's third-highest clip, as Benedict (0-2) was also decently efficient at .232
- The blue and white mashed seven aces against the Tigers' two, but sent one more wayward serve by an 8-7 margin
- Each side recorded 19 digs and Benedict had the advantage in blocking, recording eight while Catawba tallied seven
- Block errors hindered the Tiger defense who committed four miscues as the hosts were whistled twice for net violations
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Justin Arrowood's .609 hitting percentage is a top-15 performance nationally (minimum 20 attempts) as the pin smashed 16 kills with a pair of service aces
- Christianson went 10-for-11 on attacks with no errors, marking the nation's third-best hitting percentage in performances ranging from 10-14 attempts, while tallying four blocks and three digs defensively
- Kekona Ulu registered the first three aces of his young career in a six-kill, two-block effort
- Middle blockers Wyatt Eastin and Logan Neitzel notched five kills apiece, combining for seven blocks as Eastin logged an uber-efficient .714 day
- Mason Archer one-upped the assist mark in his career debut against Charleston last week in one fewer set, dealing out 35 assists with three digs and one ace
- Max Adkisson paced the ground defense with six digs and dished out three dimes
