ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The Catawba College women's golf team closed out its first tournament of the spring semester on Tuesday with an 11th-place finish at the World Golf Invitational hosted by Flagler at the Slammer & Squire Golf Course in St. Augustine, Fla.
Catawba landed smack-dab in the middle of a logjam with places 8th to 14th separated by seven strokes, finishing one shot ahead of the seventh-ranked Lee Flames and four behind three top-20 squads. With a team score of 919 and +55 against par, the Catawba Indians set their fifth-best marks in program history in both categories.
Host Flagler cruised to the team title, leading the field by nine shots at 883 (+7). Lander's Kajsa Lindqvist finished at even par and won a four-hole playoff to earn medalist honors.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- King's steady improvement with a 76-74-73 card including five birdies on Tuesday brought her to a 223, tying for the seventh-best score across three rounds in program history
- Starting on hole No. 10, Kristinsdottir struggled on the back nine but dominated the front with a trio of birds contributing to a 35, wrapping up the event with a 76
- Carlson parred 13 holes in the final round with a birdie on the 12th, staying put in the middle of the pack
- Back-to-back birdies to finish the front nine helped Waddell finish strong, trimming strokes off each round with an 84-80-79 scorecard
- Buxton rounded out the lineup on Day 2 with an 11-over 83 and one birdie, needing just three shots to complete the par-4 18th hole
