INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. —
Mary Paige King of the Catawba College women's golf program has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II South Regional Championship as an individual qualifier per the organization's release on Sunday afternoon.
The junior from Clemmons, N.C., hauled in Second Team All-South Atlantic Conference and All-Tournament laurels, honoring a season that put her name into the program's record book in multiple places. King enters NCAA competition with a 75.62 stroke average, five par-or-better rounds and four under-par rounds; she also holds the program record for most consecutive rounds in the 70s, boasting a streak of 17 in a row. She placed inside the top 10 on four occasions, highlighted by her first career victory at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational (Mar. 23-24).
King will become the fourth female golfer in Catawba history to compete on the NCAA stage, joining Paige Haverty, Kristen Kyle and Kelsey Babos who appeared in six regionals (2003-06, 09-10) and one national championship (2009).
Also representing the SAC in the 18-team, six-individual regional field are No. 1 Wingate, No. 2 Anderson and No. 15 Lincoln Memorial, as well as Anaelle Picot (Carson-Newman), Eve Neild (Lenoir-Rhyne) and Emery Fisher (C-N).
The South Regional is scheduled for May 4-6 at Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tenn.
