Harrogate, Tenn. — The Catawba College women's basketball team suffered its fourth straight loss in a 71-38 defeat at Lincoln Memorial in weather-adjusted South Atlantic Conference play on Friday.
TEAM STATISTICS
- Lincoln Memorial shot 24-for-67 (36 percent) from the field, while Catawba was 17-of-54 (32 percent) from the floor
- The Railsplitters knocked down 13 three-pointers on 36 attempts (36 percent); the Catawba Indians were 3-for-20 (15 percent) from deep
- LMU was 10-of-12 (83 percent) at the free throw line, while Catawba was 1-for-5 (20 percent) at the charity stripe
- Lincoln Memorial out-rebounded the Catawba Indians 43-25; the Railsplitters' 15 offensive rebounds allowed them to out-score Catawba 21-2 in second-chance points
- LMU recorded 17 assists to nine turnovers, while the Catawba Indians had five assists to 14 turnovers – LMU led 18-5 in points off turnovers
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Imani Williams scored a team-high 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting
- Kairah Dixon-Booker chipped in nine points and six rebounds
- Saniya Wilson added six points on three made field goals
- Jaz Jenkins scored her first career collegiate points in the game
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER
- After Mary Spry opened the game with a basket, LMU went on a 9-0 run to take the early lead
- The Railsplitters led 17-6 after 10 minutes
SECOND QUARTER
- Alexa Smiddy's three-pointer made it a 25-10 lead for LMU near the midway point of the second quarter
- Lincoln Memorial led 37-17 at the halftime break
THIRD QUARTER
- The Railsplitters opened the second half with a 13-0 run to lead 50-17 at the 7:43 mark
- Two Wilson jumpers and a basket from Dixon-Booker while fouled constituted a 6-0 run for Catawba in the second half
- LMU led 58-25 after three quarters
FOURTH QUARTER
- Lincoln Memorial pushed their lead to 37 points with two early baskets in the fourth
- Dixon-Booker knocked down a three-pointer later in the period, but Catawba was not able to pull within 30 in what was their fourth straight SAC defeat
