Men's Basketball falls at #4 Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. — The Catawba College men's basketball team's six-game hot streak was snapped on Wednesday night in a 97-74 loss to No. 4 Anderson at Abney Athletic Center.

TEAM STATS
- Catawba (11-4, 6-3 SAC) shot a steady 43.4% from the field, but Anderson (15-0, 9-0 SAC) bombarded the visitors with a 53.3% clip – the best field goal percentage Catawba has surrendered
- Both squads heaved 19 triples, but the Trojans outdid the Catawba Indians 11-5 for a percentage difference of 57.9%-26.3%
- AU edged out Catawba on the free throws front, sinking 73.3% of its attempts against the blue and white's 71.9%
- Catawba lost the rebound battle 37-32, marking the team's lowest total of the season, to move to 0-3 when its opponent leads on the boards
- Turnovers also plagued the Catawba Indians who committed 18 miscues compared to Anderson's 10, producing a 13-4 margin in steals with Catawba recording a season low in takeaways

INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Jordan Simpson eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone in his college career while leading the way with 18, anchored by four first-half three-pointers
- Ibra Athie came off the bench to register another affair with double-figure scoring as the Cincinnati native collected 16 points with a team-high seven rebounds
- Twins Carson Daniel and Chase Daniel tallied 11 points apiece with Carson dishing out a team-best four assists, while Chase led the roster in steals at two
- Justin Banks used a 5-for-6 performance at the free-throw line to power a seven-point effort
- Nick Walker blocked a pair of Trojan shots on a six-point, six-rebound night
