MARS HILL, N.C. — The Catawba College men's basketball team got back into the win column with a 67-65 comeback victory at Stanford Arena on Saturday afternoon.
TEAM STATS
- The Catawba Indians (12-4, 7-2 SAC) shot a below-average 39.4%, needing more opportunities to overcome the 47.2% hit rate by Mars Hill (9-7, 3-7 SAC)
- Three-point territory was tough for Catawba to conquer as the visitors went 2-for-20 (10.0%) while the Lions swished 7-of-15 (46.7%)
- The blue and white enjoyed a solid day at the free-throw line with an 81.3% clip compared to MHU's 66.7%
- Catawba prevailed in the rebound count by a 38-33 margin, resulting in a domineering 24-12 advantage in second-chance scoring
- Turnovers haunted the Lions as the 18-9 difference in takeaways is the largest of any Catawba game this season
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Ibra Athie and Nick Walker shared the team lead in scoring with 11 points apiece, followed by Justin Banks who netted 10 points
- Solomon Tucker chipped in eight points as he and Athie led the blocking effort with two swats each
- Walker and Chase Daniel, in his return to the court, each pulled down a team-best six rebounds
- Carson Daniel and brother Chase were the only Catawba Indians with multiple assists in the contest, tallying three and two, respectively, while adding two steals apiece
