SALISBURY, N.C. — The Catawba College recorded its best free throw percentage in over three years to put away Lincoln Memorial, 77-65, at Goodman Arena on Saturday afternoon.
TEAM STATS
- The Catawba Indians' (4-2, 1-1 SAC) shooting improved as the contest wore on, hitting 42.9% of their attempts compared to the Railsplitters' (3-4, 0-2 SAC) 37.1%
- Each side struggled from beyond the arc, but Lincoln Memorial came away with a 6-2 advantage in makes and a 25.0%-16.7% edge in efficiency
- Accuracy at the free-throw line made a significant difference as Catawba went 27-for-29 (93.1%) – achieving a perfect 19-for-19 clip in the second half – to overshadow LMU's 13-for-25 (52.0%) day
- Catawba boasted a 44-32 lead in rebounding, giving the blue and white their fourth double-digit margin on the boards through six games
- LMU mitigated damage by taking better care of the rock, winning the turnover battle 19-13 with a 21-17 gap in points off takeaways
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Justin Banks led the way offensively with 17 points including an immaculate 9-for-9 mark on free throws, adding three steals, three blocks and six rebounds
- Nick Walker supplied 15 points in 21 minutes of work while chipping in four boards, two steals and a block
- Chase Daniel recorded a scrappy stat line of 13 points, nine rebounds, three swipes and a couple of assists
- Jordan Simpson rounded out the four-man group of double-figure scorers in a 10-point effort supported by six rebounds and a steal
- Carson Daniel dished out a team-high seven dimes in addition to netting five points and five boards
