Rock Hill, S.C. — Catawba College junior forward
Bree Ehmer added to her long list of accolades following the 2025 season when she was named the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
The unanimous First Team All-American and Ron Lenz National Player of the Year also excelled in the classroom, earning a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average through the spring 2025 semester in Sports Medicine. She is a member of the Catawba Presidential Honor Roll.
The South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each of the Conference's championship sports and is voted on by the SAC's Faculty Athletic Representatives Committee. The winners are selected based on their achievements in academics, athletics, service and leadership.
The honor marks the second consecutive year Catawba Women's Soccer has earned the SAC Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, following
Lillie Rusher in 2024, who was also named the 2024-25 SAC Woman of the Year in August.
In addition to her excellence on the field and in the classroom, Ehmer has also gotten involved in opportunities of service and leadership within the Catawba community. She serves as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee member, the Vice President of the Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group and as a recreational soccer coach for Catawba Soccer Academy.
The Melbourne, Fla. native is the third student-athlete in Catawba Women's Soccer history to earn the honor, joining Rusher and Katie DeVitto, who earned the award twice in her career – in 1991 and again in 1993.
Ehmer will advance to consideration for the SAC Woman of the Year honor later this academic year.
