Swinton named Jacobs Block Trophy winner; ten from Football named All-Conference

Rock Hill, S.C. — The Catawba College football team had 10 student-athletes named to the All-South Atlantic Conference teams, the league office announced Friday morning. Senior Avery Swinton was named the 2025 Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner, honored to the top offensive lineman in the league.

Swinton earns All-SAC First Team recognition for the second consecutive year. The Jacksonville, Fla. native is just the second student-athlete in program history to earn the Jacobs Blocking Trophy award after Brian Hinson in 1999.

Swinton is joined on the All-Conference First Team by senior Evan Simons as an outside linebacker in the first year the league has distinguished OLB as a position. A two-time SAC Defensive Player of the Week, Simons ranked third in the league in solo tackles, second in the league in tackles for loss and third in sacks per game.

Preston Brown was named the league's Second Team All-SAC quarterback. The Harlon Hill nominee led the South Atlantic Conference in passing efficiency, passing touchdowns and points responsible for. Additionally, Brown ranks seventh in the nation in completion percentage, 11th in passing yards per attempt and top 30 in the country in total offense.

Kevin Lalin and Bennett Galloway were both named to the All-SAC Second Team at running back. In his first year with the program after transferring from Limestone, Lalin ranked fourth in the league in rushing yards despite playing in nine games while ranking tops in the SAC and sixth in the nation with 7.5 yards per carry.

Galloway also impressed in his first year in Salisbury after transferring from UL Monroe, racking up 11 rushing touchdowns in just seven games played. He placed third in the league in total touchdowns and top eight in total yards despite the shortened season.

Bo Pryor was named an All-SAC Second Team wide receiver in his final season in the blue and red. The program's all-time receptions record holder added over 800 receiving yards on a team-best 54 catches with five touchdown catches. The Cherryville, N.C. native adds the honors to All-Conference seasons in 2023 and 2022 at both wide receiver and return specialist.

Dallas Foard and Jalen Brooks made it three lineman with All-Conference nods for a Catawba front line that helped lead the Catawba Indians to the top ranked offense in the SAC with over 30 points scored in each of its six home games, all resulting in victories. A graduate student, Foard adds the recognition to 2024 All-Piedmont Division honors, while Brooks is a first-time all-conference honoree.

Jalen Brown added All-SAC Second Team honors in his lone season at Catawba after transferring from Bethune-Cookman. The 6'6" target became a favorite of Preston Brown's down the stretch, piling up 376 yards and five touchdowns on the season.

Nigel Gay was the team's final All-Conference selection, earning Second Team All-Conference honors at defensive back. The sophomore from Kernersville, N.C. ranked third on the team in tackles from the cornerback position with 11 pass breakups, good for second in the league.

The 10 all-conference selections is the most for the Catawba Indians since 2017, which also is the last time they posted seven or more victories in a season. Catawba made a four-win improvement in 2025, the second time in three seasons the Catawba Indians have won four more games than they did in the previous season.
