Indianapolis, Ind. —- The Catawba College baseball team earned the second seed in the NCAA Division II Baseball Southeast Regional Tournament, assuming hosting duties for the third straight season, the NCAA announced Sunday night.

Catawba will host seventh-seed Belmont Abbey on Thursday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at Newman Park. Third-seed Wingate will face sixth-seed Young Harris will follow at 6 p.m.

The Catawba Indians earn hosting duties as a top-two seed in the Southeast after earning its third straight South Atlantic Conference regular season championship. Led by 14-time SAC Coach of the Year Jim Gantt, Catawba has already clinched its third straight 40-win season.

Catawba has advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Cary four times since 2012, twice as many as any other team in the region that has claimed two of the last five national championships.
