Emory, Va. —- The Catawba College women's outdoor track and field team made program history on Thursday when they finished off a runner-up finish at the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships, their highest finish in team history.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Javelin
- Lilly Wolf took home the SAC title in the women's javelin throw with a heave of 38.55 meters
Shot Put
- Jamelia Nicholas and Wolf finished side-by-side in the women's shot put, reaching 11.92 meters and 11.59 meters, respectively
Triple Jump
- Elizabeth Deen placed as the runner-up in the women's triple jump as a freshman with a mark of 12.11 meters
4x100-Meter Relay
- Onii Bivens, Efe Egberi, Lea Legros and Skylar Southern placed as the SAC runner-up in the women's 4x100 relay with a time of 45.74 seconds
1,500-Meter Run
- Eden Barnwell took home the SAC title in the women's 1500m run, crossing the line in 4:44.27
- Natalie Almond and Emer Mcglynn placed third and fourth, respectively, with marks of 4:47.07 and 4:48.07
400-Meter Dash
- Bivens finished as the SAC runner-up in the women's 400m dash with a mark of 55.42 seconds
100-Meter Dash
- Legros placed eighth in the Women's 100m dash
800-Meter Run
- Barnwell, Charity Davies and Mandi Pollard finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively in the women's 800m runs
5,000-Meter Run
- Madi Clay, Hannah Caudill and Natalie Almond earned top-eight finishes in the women's 5K, while Clay finished as the runner-up with a mark of 17:13.17
4x400-Meter Relay
- Catawba's women made it a sweep in the 4x400 relay for Catawba, crossing the line in 3:42.53 with their team of Burgos, Egberi, Barnwell and Bivens
