Emory, Va. — The 15th-ranked Catawba College men's tennis team cruised to a South Atlantic Conference win at Emory & Henry on Saturday, 4-0, improving the team's record to 5-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Agustin Mastri and Luca Bergonzi rolled to a 6-1 win at #1 doubles
- Santiago Passoni and Alen Bill won by an identical 6-1 score at #2s to clinch the doubles point
- Mateo Berne and Alessandro Valletta were leading 5-3 when the doubles point was reached
SINGLES
- Bill cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles for a two-win day, surrendering just one set
- Mastri also earned his second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the top-ranked singles position
- Ryosuke Inagawa helped clinch the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #5s
- Passoni led 6-1, 3-0 at #2s the clinch point; Berne led 6-1, 4-3 at #3s and Bergonzi led 6-1, 3-1 at #4s
