Men's Volleyball falls in four at LMU, settles for weekend split in Tennessee

HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Catawba College men's volleyball team dropped the back end of its weekend trip to the Volunteer State with a loss to Lincoln Memorial, 3-1, in a Saturday matinee at Mary Mars Gymnasium.

TEAM STATS
- Catawba (7-11, 3-1 IVA) collected a 45-39 lead over Lincoln Memorial (11-6, 2-0 IVA) in kills, but were less efficient by a .250-.193 hitting percentage margin
- Service was the Achilles' heel for Catawba as LMU possessed an 11-4 advantage in aces, while the blue and white delivered more faulty serves by a difference of 18-14
- The Catawba Indians recorded 4.5 total blocks against the Railsplitters' 6.5; neither side notched a solo stop
- The visitors finished with a one-dig lead over LMU, prevailing in the category 39-38
- Three of the four sets saw Catawba outnumber the hosts in kills, but a 23-15 gap in errors worked in the Splitters' favor

INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Offensively, Justin Arrowood blasted 16 kills to raise his per-set average to 3.67 while tying his career high of three aces and chipping in seven digs with two blocks
- Anders Christianson notched his seventh double-figure-kill performance in the last eight matches, registering 12 darts with one dig and one block
- Wyatt Eastin and Logan Neitzel recorded very similar days in the middle, each logging five kills and two digs while Neitzel led the squad with three denials at the net
- John Clinton also tacked on five kills in addition to nine digs, two blocks and a service ace
- Kristian Smith compiled 36 assists with seven digs and went a perfect 2-for-2 in attack
- Max Adkisson led the blue and white defensively using 11 digs while dealing out three assists, an identical statline to the night before in one fewer set

Catawba comes home to Goodman Arena for a rematch with Barton on Tuesday, Mar. 24. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
