Chattanooga, Tenn. —- The 15th-ranked Catawba College men's tennis team took down top-10 ranked UIndy on Tuesday to kick off their play at the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Mateo Berne and Alessandro Valletta won a thrilling 3rd-ranked doubles match, 7-5
- Agustin Mastri and Luca Bergonzi won in a tiebreak, in the 13th and final game, 7-5, to take the doubles point
SINGLES
- Bergonzi overcame a first-set loss to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at #4 singles
- Ryosuke Inagawa also bounced back after a loss in the opening set to take the #5s match, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3
- Alen Bill helped clinch the match with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory at #6s
- Mastri fell in the opening set 3-6, but fought off a loss with a tiebreak win in the second, 7-6, before leading 3-0 in the third at the clinch point
