SALISBURY, N.C. — The Catawba College men's volleyball team was upended by a revamped Lees-McRae squad on Friday night, taking a 3-1 setback at Goodman Arena in the 2026 home opener.
TEAM STATS
- The Catawba Indians (1-2) led the match in kills 52-46, but errors brought their hitting percentage down to .178; Lees-McRae (1-2) put together a .263 affair, highlighted by a monster .524 clip in the opening set
- The blue and white had their share of woes on serve receive, giving up seven aces to the Bobcats while landing just two of their own with 17 errors; the visitors registered 14 errant serves
- Catawba recorded an 11-8 advantage in the blocking category, but trailed LMC in digs 39-35
- No lead changes occurred in the first and fourth sets, while the middle two stanzas featured two apiece
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Justin Arrowood tied the program record for kills in a four-set match with 23 strikes on a .326 hitting percentage, going perfect in 27 receptions with five digs
- Kekona Ulu turned in a career-high nine kills with Anders Christianson close behind at eight darts
- Wyatt Eastin batted .357 with seven blasts, tacking on a team-high six blocks as Arrowood and Christianson followed with four stops apiece
- Kristian Smith chalked up team highs of 41 assists and 13 digs for a double-double, in addition to joining Logan Neitzel as one of two Catawba Indians with an ace

Catawba travels out to Bristol, Tenn., next weekend for a two-match stay, facing LeMoyne-Owen on Friday (Jan. 23) before squaring off with host King on Saturday (Jan. 24).
