Salisbury, N.C. —- The 21st-ranked Catawba College men's tennis team improved to 4-0 to start their spring season and 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference play with a 4-1 win over visiting Limestone on Saturday at the Johnson Tennis Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Luca Bergonzi and Agustin Mastri earned a quick 6-1 win in #2s doubles action
- Ryosuke Inagawa and Sebastian Zabala clinched the doubles point with a dramatic 7-5 win over their #3s counterpart
- Mateo Berne and Marcos Castares were deadlocked 5-5 in their #1s match at the point of completion
SINGLES
- Mastri went 2-0 on the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win in #2 singles
- His doubles' teammate Bergonzi also earned a singles win with a 6-4, 6-1 win at #4 position
- Thomas Kostka helped clinch the match with a tight 7-6, 6-5 win in #3s
- Alessandro Valleta won his first set 6-3 and trailed 4-5 at the point of completion
- Inagawa fell 4-6 in the opening set before bouncing back with a 7-5 win in set two before the match was clinched
