WISE, Va. — The Catawba College women's volleyball team claimed a first-set triumph but was held off in the following three frames, enduring a 3-1 South Atlantic Conference defeat at UVA Wise to end a much-improved 2025 campaign.
TEAM STATS
- The Catawba Indians (9-14, 6-12 SAC) walloped 43 kills against UVA Wise's (14-14, 8-10 SAC) 48 as the Highland Cavaliers held a .147-.052 edge in hitting percentage
- While Catawba managed just a pair of aces, the Cavaliers sent in 10 service aces but paid the price with an unfavorable 13-5 margin in errors
- UVA Wise shut down 14 of the visitors' attacks at the net as Catawba record half that in a seven-block showing
- The blue and white bested the Cavs in the digs department by a sizable 70-62 margin
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Sofia Beard and Lillie Kate Rogers paced the offense with 12 and 11 kills, respectively, while adding two blocks apiece as Rogers completed a double-double with 11 digs
- Annica Kagle set a new career high in kills, shooting nine darts in the affair
- Martina Foster dropped in six kills on a team-best .267 hitting clip in addition to three blocks and five digs on the defensive end
- Rogers and Ali Rose supplied the team's two aces
- Haley Moffett also collected a double-double utilizing 23 assists and 12 digs
- Riley Hill racked up 20 digs to finish her junior season with three consecutive 20-dig affairs, totaling 12 on the year

- Catawba finishes the season with a 9-14 overall record and a 6-12 in-conference tally
- The blue and white tripled their SAC win total and doubled their overall number of victories from the 2024 season
- Hill averaged 5.14 digs per set for the year, a mark that is good for 11th all-time
- Through three seasons, Hill also ranks third in the rally-scoring era (since 2008) with 1,250 career digs; she now accounts for two of the top 10 single-season dig totals, recording 432 in 2025
