PREVIEW: Women’s Volleyball begins final stretch at Newberry

NEWBERRY, S.C. — Entering the final week of the regular season, the Catawba College women's volleyball team heads to Newberry for a return trip against the Wolves at 6 p.m.

Friday Rewind
- The Catawba Indians put up a tremendous fight on Senior Day last Friday, going to five sets against high-powered Anderson at Goodman Arena
- Catawba improved to 13-8 in first-set wins with a 25-23 triumph in the opener
- Although blocking favored AU by a lopsided 16-5 margin, Catawba held edges in kills (58-56), aces (10-9) and digs (72-56)
- Four Catawba players had over 10 kills as Ali Rose and Tamie Boudot each delivered three service aces to anchor the offensive front
- Martina Foster and Annica Kagle leapt for three denials apiece and Riley Hill sprawled out for 26 digs, her third-best total of the year

Top of the Lineup
- Hill is averaging 5.13 digs per set, the third-finest mark in the South Atlantic Conference that ranks 29th nationally
- Rounding to the hundredth place, Sofia Beard and Lillie Kate Rogers have identical 2.91 per-set dig averages with 230 and 227 darts, respectively
- Boudot is one assist away from notching 400 in her rookie campaign; Haley Moffett follows closely at 387
- Foster leads the way in two categories with 21 service aces and 50 total blocks

All-Time Series
- Catawba's defeat of Newberry earlier this season bumped its series record up to 45-16
- The same team has swept the series for the previous three seasons; given the Catawba Indians' 3-0 win at Goodman Arena in October, this trend favors the blue and white

Scouting the Wolves
- Newberry enters the matchup at 11-12 with a 6-10 in-conference record
- In their last time on the court, the Wolves avenged an early-season loss to UVA Wise with a 3-1 win on Friday at Eleazer Arena
- Like Catawba, Newberry is hoping to secure a SAC playoff bid as one of multiple teams in the mix with 5-6 league wins
- Anna Schneider shoulders most of the load on offense, ranking sixth in the conference with 3.12 kills per set while setter Annie Dill is sixth in assists per frame (5.73)
