Salisbury, N.C. —- The seventh-ranked Catawba College women's swimming team beat defending South Atlantic Conference champion Wingate for the second time in three years in the team's regular season dual meet matchup on a top-10 Halloween showdown at Johnson Pool.
HOW IT HAPPENED
400-Yard Medley Relay
- Catawba's 400 medley relay team of Eszter Pajor, Sydney McKenzie, Sydney Peterson and Marit Reckmann won the event with a mark of 3:44.40
- With the time, the team automatically qualifies for the 2026 NCAA National Championships
1000-Yard Freestyle
- Fiona Byrne took home the event win in the 1000 Free, posting a B-cut-worthy time of 10:14.06
200-Yard Freestyle
- Pajor picked up another NCAA B-cut time in the 200 Free, finishing first in the heat with a mark of 1:52.37
100-Yard Backstroke
- Eniko Onofer added to Catawba's streak of event wins with a first-place finish with a time of 57.23 seconds
50-Yard Freestyle
- Reckmann placed first in the women's 50 Free, edging out the top Wingate competitor by over a second with a B-cut time of 23.23
100-Yard Freestyle
- Reckmann repeated with a win in the 100 Free with another B-cut time of 51.60
200-Yard Backstroke
- Pajor broke the school record in the 200 Backstroke with a time that won by nearly four seconds – a B-cut-quality 2:01.12
200-Yard Breaststroke
- McKenzie took home the heat title in the 200 Breast out of Lane 6, posting a mark of 2:18.42, which is good for a B-cut
500-Yard Freestyle
- Ella Gutenwik added yet another NCAA B-cut in the 500 Free with a time of 5:03.79
100-Yard Butterfly
- Onofer added another win in the 100 Fly picking up a win by five-hundredths of a second over the top Wingate competitor at 56.05
200-Yard Freestyle Relay
- Catawba closed the impressive night with a relay win in the 200 Free relay with their team of Pajor, Reckmann, Onofer and Marleen Plachetka with a time of 1:34.67
