Wingate, N.C. —- The Catawba College women's lacrosse team competed in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon, falling at 16th-ranked Wingate 19-5.
TEAM STATISTICS
- Wingate out-shot Catawba 39-13
- The Bulldogs had 29 shots on goal to the Catawba Indians' six
- WU had 27 ground balls to Catawba's 13
- The Catawba Indians forced 15 Wingate turnovers, while commiting 21
- The Bulldogs were 14-for-14 on clears, while Catawba was 10-of-19

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Sarah Maier scored two goals, recorded five draw controls and a caused turnover
- Mary Sorvillo added two more goals
- Charlie Skepple also netted a goal
- Audrey Adelsberger matched a team-high with three ground balls
- Evie Kauserud recorded 10 saves in goal with three GBs
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER
- Wingate scored the first two goals of the game in the opening four minutes
- Sorvillo got Catawba on the board at the 7:43 mark
- The Bulldogs scored the last five goals of the period to lead 5-1
SECOND QUARTER
- Leah Knowles scored to extend the WU lead to 6-1
- Sorvillo netted another goal two minutes in
- Skepple answered a Wingate goal to cut the lead to 7-3
- Wingate scored the final five goals to lead 12-3 at the break
THIRD QUARTER
- Maier found the back of the net at the 8:54 mark
- Two Bulldog scored extended their advantage to double digits
- Maier's second goal of the quarter made it 15-5
- WU led 16-5 after three quarters
FOURTH QUARTER
- Wingate scored each of the three goals in the fourth
