Newberry, S.C. —- The Catawba College women's lacrosse team dropped a South Atlantic Conference contest at Newberry on Saturday, 25-2, at Setzler Field. The Wolves improve to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians drop to 3-11 and 1-6 in league play.

Ella McCusker and Caroline Cox were the goal scorers for Catawba, while Sarah Maier recorded a team-high four ground balls and Joey Baillie forced four caused turnovers. Cassell Richardson led the Wolves with six goals and three assists.

Newberry opened with scoring the game's first eight goals in just over 13 minutes of action. Cox scored from a free position at the 1:18 to put Catawba on the board, but the Wolves scored the last seven goals of the first half, leading 15-1 at the halftime break.

The Wolves made it a run of 17 unanswered goals in the second half, leading as much as 25-1 midway through the fourth quarter. McCusker scored at the 6:43 mark and neither team found the back of the net for the remainder of the game. 

Catawba returns home on Wednesday, hosting Limestone at 7 p.m.
