Sumter, S.C. —- The 37th-ranked and fifth-seeded Catawba College women's tennis fell in the semifinal round of the South Atlantic Conference women's tennis championships to top seed and 18th-ranked Tusculum. The Pioneers improve to 17-5 on the season and advance to Saturday's championship match, while Catawba drops to 14-7 on the season.
Catawba won one of three doubles matches as the Pioneers took the early point. Ami Miya and Alexandra Parra won their #1 doubles match 6-2.
Tusculum won the first three matches that were completed, ending the match and giving the Pioneers the 4-0 win.
Miya was tied 7-6, 5-7 and Carolina Correia led 4-6, 6-2, 5-4 in #5 singles at the time of completion.
Catawba awaits its NCAA Tournament fate with the NCAA DII women's tennis selection show set for Monday, May 1 at 6 p.m.
