Dahlonega, Ga. —- The Catawba College baseball team dropped a tough non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon, falling at North Georgia 4-3 in 11 innings. The Nighthawks improve to 10-8 overall, while the Catawba Indians drop to 11-9 on the season.
Cameron Mills had the most productive day at the plate for Catawba, going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base. Levi Perrell also recorded a pair of hits including a double and drove in a run. Jackson Price drove in two runs for Catawba.
Catawba jumped on the board for the second consecutive day, as Mills and Dylan Driver got aboard and then performed a double steal to get runners at second and third with nobody out. Price drove in Mills on an RBI groundout and Perrell doubled down the left field line to score Driver, as Catawba took an early 2-0 lead.
The Nighthawks earned one run back in the bottom of the second, but Price returned the lead to two runs in the third on another RBI groundout, scoring Mills.
Justin Bailey hit the equalizer in the sixth inning, a two-run home run to tie the game at three.
Neither team scored for the next four innings, but UNG's Edwin Bowman IV walked it off for the Nighthawks with a double in the bottom of the eleventh.
Ryan Street had a quality outing for Catawba, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out three in 5.2 innings. Marshall Raper takes the tough loss, giving up just the final run on four hits in the final 4.2 innings.
Catawba returns to Newman Park on Friday, hosting Cedarville for a single game at 1 p.m.
